About Me
My name is Jen Rae, a City & Guilds qualified groomer and I have had a love of animals for as far as I can remember. I obtained a National Diploma in Equine Management whilst attending Northop Horticultural College. I then went on to join the family business of property rental for the next 9 years and I went on to own a Labrador, Jack Russell and Border Collie. At the time I was not in a position to pursue my love of animals in a career capacity.
This all changed when I bought my current dog, Monty the Cocker Spaniel! After much reading up on the breed and numerous trips to different Groomers I began to groom him myself, with much patience and acceptance from Mont! I enjoyed the time spent and the creative aspect so much, that I decided that this is what I wanted to do and turn a hobby and love into a successful business and so Dovetail Dog Grooming was born!
In January 2017, I was lucky enough to be selected for the Aesculap Scholarship. Only 5 groomers from all over the UK are picked and I was presented with this at Crufts in March 2017. I was absolutely thrilled to train with some of the countries top groomers and have my hard work recognised within the industry!
In August 2017, I decided to enter my first grooming competition with Monty. Having groomed just over a year, I had to enter the intermediate class and I was thrilled to be awarded with the Silver place! This is a prestigious competition with competitors from all over the world.
I now can not wait to take what I have learnt forward and compete further with the help and patience of Monty.
In January 2018, Monty and I competed in The Grooming Show in Coventry. Although we were not placed, we had amazing feedback and comments from top groomer and judge Colin Taylor. Competing is a great way for me to improve on my skills and strive for perfection...
In January of this year, we returned to The Grooming Show and competed in our second Open competition. This time placing 2nd in a very strong class! We were thrilled and it was worth the 2am start!
